The foundation of the workshop is the belief in the immense power of effortlessness. We work on softness and allowing ourselves to produce a full and strong voice. We search for physical and mental support to release the sound.

The workshop consists of relaxation exercises, energetic, physical, and mindfulness warm-ups, activating resonators, techniques for safely releasing calling and screaming, working with speed, volume and melody of speaking, learning traditional songs, and more.

The OPEN YOUR VOICE GROUP is aimed at everyone who would like to work on freedom, control, and pleasure in producing sound. Through a series of activities integrating voice with body and emotions, we will build a solid foundation for speaking and singing – we will look for supports for a full, open, and strong voice.

Should I be afraid?

The work is conducted in a way to generate as little stress and as much pleasure as possible.

Is the workshop intended for ordinary mortals?

Yes. The workshop is aimed at anyone who wants to increase their freedom of speech or singing. It is also aimed at those who have never sung before and are ashamed of their voice.

Do we focus on singing or speaking at the workshop?

During the workshop, we primarily work on sound. Free, natural sound is used both in speaking and singing.

Is there a schedule for the sessions (semester)?

There is no fixed schedule. Each session looks different, each one is a surprise for the participants. The only common part for all meetings is the physical and mindfulness warm-up.

Who is this group for?

For those who feel they don't have control over their voice, don't like it, or are ashamed of it.

For those who want to expand their vocal expression both in speech and singing.

For those who need to strengthen their voice through regular exercises.

OUR GROUPS

Piotr Filonowicz

Founder and leader of theater workshops at the Academy of Arts and Culture.

A graduate of the Theater Academy in Warsaw and Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He led the group Night Line dealing with free improvisation Fabryka Destrukcja group, and Vocal Line group focusing on work with voice based on traditional songs. He organizes ethnomusicological expeditions, during which he collects material for vocal work. He conducts vocal workshops „Przedzalnia glosu". Specializes in work on arousing the natural strength of voice and integrating emotions, movement and voice.

Aleksandra Kowalczyk

a cultural studies scholar, cultural animator, and performer. She deals with voice both practically and theoretically. A scholarship holder of the Academy of Music, Dance, and Fine Arts in Plovdiv, where she studied Bulgarian folk singing. She founded the experimental vocal improvisation group "Syreny." She collaborated with the magazine on contemporary music "Glissando" and the Węgajty Theater. She sings in the group "Córy Mary," performing archaic ritual songs, and co-creates the electro-vocal improvisation duo "OM." In her work, she focuses on expanding the possibilities of the voice through movement, improvisation, and vocal techniques from various musical cultures. Since 2015, she has been co-organizing the series of workshops "Przedzalnia glosu" within which she conducts semester-long voice emission classes and weekend workshops on various topics (fundamentals of vocal improvisation, Bulgarian vocal technique, and traditional songs).

The group has up to 15 participants.

When to pay?

Payment is made in advance for the semester. In the case of payment in instalments - the second instalment before the 5th, and the third before the 9th meeting. The first payment reserves the place in the group (instalment or full amount).

You must pay the first instalment or full amount to the ASiK account (or at the ASiK secretariat) no later than 3 working days after the notification.

ATTENTION! If you won’t like the semester classes, you can take the money back without giving a reason - if you report this within 5 days from the first meeting.
