Theater Workshops
Workshops for Adults
For over 20 years, we have been the leading place in Poland where adults can work on themselves using acting and vocal tools. Here, you’ll meet curious, creative people in person.
Idea
We are a grassroots cultural institution based in Warsaw, focused on educational and artistic activities around theater
We offer acting and vocal classes and organize cultural events. We see theater as a tool for personal development. Our goal is not professionalization but fostering creativity in everyday life. Our program is primarily directed at adults. Most of the Theater Workshops are group-based, as we highly value meeting others and building a community.
History
Theater Workshops were founded by Piotr Filonowicz, who has been conducting acting classes since 2000
Initially, he was inspired by Michael Chekhov’s technique, focusing on creative experience, creating a psychological gesture, and the inner score of a character. He also explored improvisation based on Konstantin Stanislavski’s realistic acting techniques. However, the greatest influence on him was Jerzy Grotowski’s search for work on the person and the process, rather than just the external effect. This characterizes Theater Workshops activities.
Today, we are a team of educators, cultural animators, and creators of various types of performing arts. Each of us has a different artistic background, but we are all united by openness, creativity, and good pedagogical practices.
Theater Workshops operate thanks to the institutional and administrative support of the Academy of Arts and Culture and the substantive and educational support of the Contemporary Art Foundation.
For us, theater means:
